1. First and foremost you have to rest your voice so it can repair.
2. Test your voice with slow and easy tones to see if it responds or you need to rest more.
3. Do easy exercises that can warm up the muscles after resting and only do 10 minutes then rest again. Do this several times but don’t overdo it and tire the muscles. The idea is to bring them back to responding, but not to the point where you are working them too hard or it will put you back to having to rest again.
4. Build back slowly and then go into strengthening exercises.
5. Check your technique to see if it needs to change. There’s a reason you strained your voice and it may be that you are singing incorrectly or started a bad habit.
